Thanks Illum the link was really informative i'm still a little frightened to do it though.. even the slightest bit of bleach could kill right
If I were a fish, I'd BREED all Day!
haha cacamaniac i totally agree with you... not very comfortable with adding bleach and vinegar to my fry food!!!

Adding vinegar is ok, but bleach? I wonder if the comercial decap brine shrimp egg is also using the same chemical.
the bleach is gotten rid of by reacting it with vinegar. after that process, you MAY have residual vinegar on the eggs, but it's unlikely that you have residual bleach unless you didn't add enough vinegar
Residual vinegar. Hmm, wonder what that taste like? Hahaha!!
Joke's aside, I think some bro here actually decap BS eggs before themselves.
Hi guys,
I do decap BS eggs every now and then. Not that frightening at all.
Bleach is used to dissolve the egg shell, rinse with fresh water and finally
soak in artificial white vinegar to rid the smell of bleach.
The reasoning for me to decap them is because sometimes the
BS eggs I bought has a very low hatch rate, instead of
wasting time trying to hatch them, I decap them. No wastage.
These decap BS are hard to come by, mostly it's imported.
Richard
fisherw,
After decap I freeze them in a little brine solution.
For immediate use, I keep some in a bottle with brine kept in the chiller.
Don't have the facity to do freeze dry.
Luenny, no expert lah, just trying to save money on BS.
Regards
Richard
