    Hi,
When I use my Fuji S6500fd with my Sunpak remote lite II (slave unit) the photo would come out very dark (under expose).
Anyone can help explain why this happens and how to solve it.
I have used this flash with my Oly E-10 before and picture would come out nice and bright but with the Fuji it just don't work together.
    Any help appreciated.

Hi Richard, what is the shutter speed? Could it be shutter sync problem?

    Stan,
At first I thought the shutter speed could be the problem too. Tried with f5.6 with speed 100 and 250, still same result, very dark.

Are you able to set a bigger aperture? Do check the flash batteries as well.

i have no experience with the Fuji system, so I am just poking blindly in the dark here.
Can you set flash exposure? If can, then maybe can increase by 1/2 stop or 1/3 stop of your EV.

Also, the setting of f5.6 and shutting 1/100 is done in manual mode or Av mode or Tv mode? If it is Av mode, maybe the shutter speed is still not slow enough. Also, maybe there is a compatibility issue between your flash and the Fuji. So exposure is wrong.

    Vincent,
I think the speed of the slave flash is different from my camera. Tried various settings including up/down the EV. All don't work. The only setting which work is when I set it to manual, f5.6 and shutter speed 1/100 and ISO 1600.
Funny thing is when I shoot, the on board flash will fire, triggering the slave unit, but the picture turn out under-expose, very dark. I always thought that when on board fires it will be bright enough and the slave will fill-in some dark area. But it's not the case, somehow the picture just turn out black black.

    Thanks
    Richard

    Richard,
Just guessing here. Could it be that your on board flash is flashing at the end of the shutter opening period. And if that happens, the slave flash will not fire fast enough. Can you check your camera to see if it is set to rear curtain mode? Or maybe you like to give me your camera model and I'll see what I can dig up on the good old internet?

    Luenny,
My camera is Fuji s6500fd. I am not sure about the front or rear curtain, have to go read the manual.
    Thanks

    Luenny, Stan, Vincent,
Thanks for your help, but I have managed to get the flash to work properly.
The on/off switch has 2 options. Pre Flash and Normal. It doesn't work under Normal mode but worked well under Pre Flash mode.
    Thanks
