Female ones usually are larger and their color are darker shade of red.

If I am not wrong, females have a golden plate on their top back just below their head. Some forumers said that such females are going to carry eggs soon.

females usually have a 'skirt' like thing at their swimmerettes(sorry dont know how to spell) area and their body shape looks broader and less streamline. also most of them are pretty red( for me though )
males are usually very pale or colourless, like those kind of ghost shrimp or feeder shrimps you see at LFS and compared to females, they are much smaller and has a thinner body.

Cherry Shrimps are red Neocaridina heteropoda variants which include sakura and fire red (in order of increasing red intensity), while Wine Red Shrimps are more closely related to Crystal Red Shrimps which are Caridina sp.
Please correct me if I am wrong

yes i think u are correct. and in addition to this, wine red cant cross breed with the rest u mentioned.
i am new too and still learning the different methods to differentiate the sex. i only know the theory part that female has brighter colours, opposite to guppies where the male guppy's colour is more vibrant!

i think the easier way is to look at the abdomen for adults
female have (1) curve drooping abdomen, they have (2) shorter antenna , (3) intense color, (4) larger, (5) egg sac from the top of head or to the pleopods

of coz if the shrimp have a slimmer body, weaker color and super long antenna are males

C328 has sakura at $8 for 5 and $16 for 20. but it seems like the $8 bag is always females, while the 20pc bag are all younglings so hard to tell.

Hmm. ..didn't realise that the $8 bags are all females..If not would have gotten the younglings..rational is that bigger = hardier (?)..For a novice I guess survival is my biggest concern now..

Yes..I know the thread is 2yrs old..but c328 prices no change! Hurray!!!
