I know how to increase the PH, but the problem is to make sure it will maintain.

I've always have the concept that coral chips would raise and maintain a high ph...
Use fine coral sand as substrate, and add coral chips in your canister filter. That should do the trick. Of course, it would help if you boil your driftwood beforehand or soak it for a long period of time.
My limited understanding is that coral chips will not raise the ph, it acts as a buffer therefore maining the high ph which most of our tap water has.

My driftwood have been in my tank for quite some timea already, do i still need to boil it?

Does your tank water still turn brownish?
If not, then probably don't need to.
Cheers!

Andrew,
Why would you prefer to use driftwood in your Malawi tank? It's not really part of their natural habitat. It's good to hear that the wood is no longer leeching humic acids into the water column. In this case, I don't suppose it will affect the pH too much, assuming you have all the other bits in place (e.g. coral chips/sand).
Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
