    to all the aquarist who think that they can "cheat" mother nature by coating their drift wood with lacquer and anything else then go ahead . you will learn the hard way that there no other way than let nature take is course .

    steve, go get a cheap stiff brush (those handheld ones for scrubbing laundry or floor) from NTUC or neighbourhood shop and give the wood a good scrubdown. Don't overdo it though.
