I have been a math teacher in an inner city school for 30 years and I've always dabbled in crafts but my new thing is fiddler crabs and I've been reading about habitats for them. We will be getting 2 turtles and I'm also researching that. Your forum seems to have great stuff.

Hi Paula, welcome to the forum. Good material is the reason alot of the people here are members, in-depth, up-to-date knowledge is so hard to find online. That aside it seems ironic that i'm making this post from class

    Smile thanks

Thanks for the welcome. I have off today but it's okay about emailing from class. Iwon't tell. I'm actually spending my day looking around the pet shops to see what's out there to revise my fiddlers and ideas to set up my turtle tank.
    Have a great day!

    Hi Benny,
No dwarf ciclids, although I do like them. My fiddler crabs are amusing me for the moment but one just died and I'm not sure why. They are burrowing in the sand and have molted twice already. I placed a small pleco in the tank for algae and maybe he had something to do with it. I plan to change the tank around, then I'll post some pictures.

Do you mean to say your fiddlers are kept in fresh water? Interesting...

My fiddlers were in freshwater in the pet store but I have them in brackish water now. They are doing well, have molted several times but my male just died and I don't know why.I had 2 of eachsex and 2 sm. tetras. Half my tank is water with a small wonder filter and the other half sand.I'm looking for a filter that moves the water better but is still small. Any suggestions?

I'd suggest you find out if you've been over feeding them. You should also check nitrate levels and salinity changes due to evaporation.

Thanks for the suggestion. I usually feed them every other day. I'll get a testing kit after payday.
