Started my 1st tank 6 months ago and now the mosses on drift wood and the moss wall is growing wild.

It is like a forest..... really like a forest.

I am not sure how to manage it.
Cannot cut as the moss would not float and "flys" all over the place.

Am I suppose to take it out and re-do the whole thing ?
I got from a LFS owner that I would need to retie the thing to keep it in check ==> every six months I have to re-scape ???

What is the recommendation.... leave it to nature ???? haha.
It actually looks ok and have a wild look to it now. But I am not sure about this in a few months time.

If you leave it to nature, you will get a full tank of moss in another few months and no layout. Just a tank of moss

    Any picture of your tank?

Are there any places to 'anchor' the moss if you push it down? I don't cut moss as i hate creating a mess. Moss doesn't full like stem plants after cutting. One way is to standby a sunction pipe while you trim it. However after you trim the moss, the yellow or pale moss exposes which is unsightly.

I use my fingers and pull. But that leaves behind a big un-manicured mess.

Easiest way is to take out the thing, put in a pail of water, trim to your desired shape, put back.

So far, that is my approach.

    Still looking good.

Will post a photo of it when I am back on the 20th.

But sooner or later it would outgrow the tank and would have to be managed. Most probably would go into rescape...Sigh...

if you are planning to do a rescape then get those moss that grow slowly in that case you wont have to worry that your tank would become messy maybe just maintain by trimming abit here and there..

Tear the moss with your hands, it reduces the amount of debris floating in the water.
