Would like to find out how feasible the following idea is.
Bottom layer using JBL base fertiliser, followed by 1 inch of gravel about 3 mm thick topped of by 1 cm of gravel about 1mm thick.

jus the base fert and a layer of 2-3mm diameter gravel will do..
if i don't use 2-3 mm gravel but 1mm gravel issit feasible?
jus a caution, fine sand can end up starving the roots of O2 (usually lead to rotting), but i have seen some who using it but success and its usually the top layer
Simon, wat if I just use the fine gravel [river sand type] after I placed the base fert? I have a pack of those river sand lying around. Gonna setup a 2ft planted tank with B.J n lotus. Will the roots have enuf grip on the sand?
If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.
Don't walk behind me as I might not lead, don't walk in front of me as I might not follow. Walk beside me, as my friend.
Mohamad Rohaizal is my name. If it's too hard, use BFG. I don't mind.
