    Hello everyone,

Am very excited about the new hobby, but knows next to nothing about aquarium setting . Just custom made the tank, hope to learn more about filter, lamp etc. from this wonderful forum before getting one for myself.

    Suggestions most welcomed.

    Hi Bro

    Firstly welcome to AQ.

You want to setup an aquarium but first thing you must know is that what type of aquarium you intend to setup. Planted?

Because different type of setup may need different type of wattage for lighting, type of brand for filter (internal or external), etc.

    Hi angel,

That's a very small tank you've custom made for yourself. I would assume that you are actually refering to 5' X 1' X 1' right?

Anyway, welcome to AQ and do tell us how you stumbled into our forum as well as a bit more about yourself.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

    Nice meeting all of you

    Oops 5'x1'x1' that's right.

I googled into this forum and found that it is by far the most active and informative and very 'local'.

Am looking for a filter now, preferably external type. Looks like Eheim is highly recommended but expansive, maybe will start with a second hand one. Will be looking out for lobang here.

    Nice meeting all of you.

I would certainly agree that buying used equipent is a good way to lower your initial investment in the hobby. We do have some great bargains in the marketplace sometimes. Do look out for them.

In the meantime, this would be a good read for you.
