Your reason for adding salt? Treating disease or trying to create brackish water or...?
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

And ermmm, i really cant remember where i heard or read about it la. Salt can be used to cure some illness in fishes. So when my ram was sick, i added salt into the qurantine tank constantly lor. MAybe u can tell me why must add salt to the tank ?

    thanks.. sorry for long story

i'm trying to figure out what you mean by this
normally people quote the weight of salt per unit volume
    this i dun get

but anyway, i use salt for ectoparasites and ectoparasites only
    ie, ich, chilodonella
other diseases can be cured by good water or using meds
afaik there isn't any good rationale to use salt for bacterial/viral infections except to reduce "osomotic stress" <- magical shibboleth, dunno what exactly they mean

    Yeap DEA Boss,

You`ve hit the nail on the head. The head with the brain la. ""

So from what u`ve said can i deduce that salt is added on a regular basis to prevent ectoparasites right. Not forgetting, isit a must to put salt in my tanks regularly ? Im shocked that 1 litre 1 tbsp!! So much..

Quoting from what u said, ermm.. Afaik means ? And also. i guess there isn`t any good rationale means no specific/standard amount used to reduce osomotic stress bla bla.

Hope my english doesn't fail me....THANKS to Vinz and DEA
    Thanks & Regards,

    ehh
afaik = as far as i know

    i don't put anything as a preventive
the only thing keeping my fish healthy is the water
just keep that in good shape (plants, water changes) will be good enough
you don't need salt unless there're obvious symptoms of ich, velvet, chilodonella etc

ectoparasites refer to those living on the outside of the fish

    Trev....

do not keep adding salt into the water... You only add a bit more for each time you replace the tank water with fresh clean water. And do dose it according to the water you add in. Not add every week or so.... you keep doing this and probably soon you'll have a marine tank
