bro another alternative is to just buy one from a lfs, the cost is just 1 red note nowadays, even cheaper than DIY sometimes. Most importantly, quite hasslefree! But DIY gives you the satisfaction certainly.

That is simple. Buy a fan (AC or DC) & a fan clip. That's it. AC fan is more noisy but more powerful.

    Hi

I just DIY my own fan. Bought fan at sim lim tower for $6. DC adapter for $8. I make my own aquarium stand for my lighting and fan. My tank is 18 x 15 x 15. Tomorrow i post some pics to share.

AC Fan is simpler and more reliable in my opinion. I tried to have 4 DC fan for my tank. They end up all dead after 3 days of usage. 1 AC fan is enough to do the job and no adaptor is needed.

Well, AC fan is more powerful. DC fan is reliable too. I dont think it will get damage unless your input current is not correct.

    BTW,

I have a brand new ISTA Cooling Fan for aquarium. Due to my lights and space constrain, I can't use it for my tank. It's new and powerful. I willing to let go @ $20

I'll be posting to sell if off. If you are interested.
