My tank's water has been yellowish for very long time. Thinking of using the carbon to clear the yellowish colour of the water. It is advisable to add carbon for planted tank? Thanks.

Carbon will suck up some nutrients away and thus the yellowish coloring. My friend did so without much problem. But you have to remove it once the yellowish stuff is gone cuz carbon will release all the unwanted chemicals is absorbed earlier once fully utilised.

Have not put in yet. I have just introduced new plants and thus want them to grow well first; if not the carbon will absorb all the fertilizer for the new plants I think.
