The seasonal streams in the jungle are usually dry during the dry season, but now the streams are full of water as it rains almost everyday (rainy season).

Couple weeks ago, I was exploring in a Kerangas forest in a remote area of Sarawak and found an interesting seasonal stream. Pitcher plants & orchids are growing abundantly near the stream.....and some pitcher plants are found submerged in the water!!!! This is my first time found the "aquatic" pitcher plants.

I'm not sure the submerged plants can survive for how long as it will rain for the next 3 or 4 months before the dry season arrive.

Take note there is a N. rafflesiana on the foreground, next to the stream:

The "aquatic" pitcher plant (I think is N. rafflesiana):

    N. ampullaria grows very near to the stream:

Besides pitcher plant, terrestrial orchid such as slipper orchid (Paphiopedilum bullenianum) also grows very near to the stream. This one below found growing together with N. ampullaria (altitude is 500 feet):

The big mosquito larvae (1.5cm long !!!) found inside the pitcher of N. ampullaria. For photography purpose, I put it on the leaf.

    This hybrid, I think is N. mirabilis x N. ampullaria :

    N. rafflesiana :
