1ft tank with 2-3 female is way too many, even if hideout are provided.

With one male and one female is more suitable.

Cost of apisto depend on species and where to get it, H20 , Pet safari,Toh.
    Cheers!

1ft is small enough diter fish can be added but at risk. Risk of the fish jumping out is great.

What do u mean by make the tank look pretty?

The cost for apisto range from normal $10 to nice a few hundred.

Can almost say , you pay what u get.
    Cheers!

Simon i don't think a 1ft tank with dilter fish is a great idea, the amount of space for the apisto to chase the dilter fish is way too small. The dilter fish might be risk being stress and jump out, or risk of it being killed.
    Cheers!

most to most i can place an plastic acrylic sheet over will hole drilled in to provide for the ventilation and the setup i was thinking of was 1 java fern, dark fine gravel and small rocks to make a lil cave kinda thingy...maybe a pebble in the middle to balance it off....simple setup...was thinking maybe put black back ground paper of the pseudo rock background. how hardy are apistos? cos i am afraid that with a small tank,if anything should go wrong with the water the fishes would feel it more cos of the smaller volume and higher concentration tt would mean.what breed of apistos can i get for about between less than 10 to 15 plus dollars?[]

yea much faster i agree, with the limited space sometimes the only place where the tetra can swim is outside the tank.. You have to also consider if the apisto spawn.
    Cheers!

imo, the bioload has nothing to do with y u find yr fishes outside the tank, rather its the characteristics of individual fish

if u intend to breed them, then try to change water frequently to induce spawning

prefered Soft acidic water. some apisto are not so choosy about their water parameters.

Once got use to tank water parameters , they are considered very hardy.

for smaller tank like yours do more frequent water change as ammonia, nitrite and stuff builds up faster. 25% every 5days will be a good way to induce spawning.

For food, feed them a wide variety of food to provide them with the best nutrients needed.

having a good water parameters, breeding them is like a breeze, adding in medias like stone, driftwood, flowerpot, coconut shell etc. will induce them further to breed as a breeding media is available.

Once you've bred them, don't panick. Till then we'll try to help u along the way =)

    Good luck with apisto breeding![] [] [] [] [] [] [] []
