When the rain stopped for a few hours in southern Sarawak, I went to a farm to photograph the cattle and the egrets. The egret is called cattle egret (Bubulcus ibis) which is migrated to Borneo from northern Asia mainland during the monsoon season. It will fly back to its homeland after March or April when the rainy season is over. It always like to stay very close to the cattle / water buffalo to eat the insects & others.

When the cattle is moving around & eating the grasses, the movement will disturb the insects (especially grasshopper) to fly or jump away. Then the egret will catch & eat those insects.

    A cow and the egret.

The egrets stay very close to the cattle.

    This one is watching me.....

    The cattle egret. (Bubulcus ibis)

At the same time, I went to check a river where somebody found an unidentified species of aquatic plant (most likely is a Cryptocoryne) in a crystal clear river. However, when I reached there, it become a muddy river where the water level is more than 3 metre high !!!! (3 days of heavy rainfall)

Last photo: An owl (Bubo sumatrana).
