1tsp per 5 gal
1tsp per 5 gal
Is 1 gal = 4.5l ???
Thanks
we are always refering to US gallons, right?
around 3.3l to 1 US gallon, i think.
4.5l to 1 imperial gallon, as in UK

wat causes white spot anyway ?
tsp NOT = tbsp
1 tsp = 1/3 tbsp
1 tbsp approx = 15ml
dosage 1 tbsp per 5 gallons (approx 20l)
3 x dosage is safe for plants and fish, even corydoras, but i don't recommend it
use the 1 tbsp per 5 gallons
as above, planted tanks can usually take the salt
unless you have very sensitive plants
what causes white spot is this parasite called ichthysporistius multifiliis (spelling might be wrong)
the white spot actually is the fish body's reaction to the parasite, and not the parasite itself
when the white spot drops off, the baby parasites (tomites) are released to find new hosts, and this is when you kill them with either meds or salt
any recommended water change interval?
is 1/3 tank water change sufficient for planted tank?
light bioload.

hi tawauboy
water change frequency as per normal...just that you need to add back the same percentage of salt loss....

The title below my name does not make me a guru...listen at your own risk!...
i use one 5ml spoon (heaped) per 2 gallons.
combined with temperature increase. works for me.
thanks guys.
was using ocean free medication and applied 4 doses, alternate days.
not much improvements.
think stressed the plants as stems and leaves turned black.
changed water, removed almost dead plants and replanted.
back breaking work and took me 2 hours and that's for 2 1/2'.
wonder how long it takes for 4', 5',...[]
anyway changed to salt when i changed the water yesterday.
seems to be better as i do not see any white spots on any of the fishes.
will keep monitoring.
thomas liew
it doesn't work that way
the fact you don't see white spots doesn't mean anything
unless they're spot free for 1~2 wks
keep the salt dosage up for at least a wk to be sure
will do.
for another 2 wks b4 i change water.
thomas liew
oh no, you can change the water, just top up with the right amount of salt
you'll have to do some calculation to find out how much salt to add back tho
in fact i recommend doing water changes
you mean water change like every 3-4 days?
my normal water change interval is 2wks.
when i add salt, it a 1 shot 1 tbs to 5 gallons.
after white spot gone for 2-3wks, how to reduce salt conc?
is it just normal water change intervals to reduce salt?
thomas liew
correct
just gradually change the water
your normal water change is 2 wks?
just increase the frequency for the time being
Seems to be an outbreak of whitespots... []

Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
yeah! so far so good.
no white spots for 2 days already.
keeping fingers crossed.[]
