Majority of the time..you just need to cut in between the nodes and replant the top and leave the bottom to grow again...or you can replant the top and pull out the old bottom and throw away (think only need to do this if you find the re-grown part getting too bushy for your liking).

... or the bottom part too scraggly.
Normally, you'll find yourself pulling up the bottoms and replanting the tops after about 3 or 4 trimmings.
Another aspect is how much to trim. Amano practices the crew cut style, where he cuts back half or more of the plant height of the entire tank. Another method is to trim the stems that are too tall and leave the rest to grow. You can also take the middle road between these two.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
Thks for the info.
