    Hi all,

I have read in many places that a very good way to counter algae is to have good fertilisation to promote plant growth to stem algae growth. I believed that it made sense. And since i have currently decided to redo my tank, I am thinking if it would be advisable to use base fert. Also, i am intending to use ADA aquasoil instead of gravel which i am currently using. Is base fert still necessary? Or is liquid fertiliser like, seachem flourish, a better option?

The type of plants i will be using are mosses(flame, weeping, christmas, spiky), minipellia, crytocoryne wendtii, some java fern(both small and large) and i am thinking if i should get some fast growing plants like hornwort to control algae.

I need some advise. Thanks a lot.

Both are neccessary since you have rooted as well as floating plants. Rooted plants absorb nutrients from the base fertilisers. The leaves get nutrients from the water column in which you dosed liquid fertilisers.

Sorry - but I have no experience with ADA aquasoil.
