it was still ok when it was being transported back...the tank is new,and didnt really cycle it...juz left it on for bout 2daes..its lying on its side,and the tank has gravel and 2 pieces of driftwood wif java fern on it...i duno bout ph,and wadz "Assimilated properly"??theres one other 4inch red tail shark inside...a old old fish that has been wif us for 2+yrs.....hope tis helps

Assimilate properly as in float the bag for sometime then slowly add tank water in to the bag every 10/15 mins. I.e. let it adjust to new tank water before dumping him in.
If I'm not wrong oscars need soft water. Our tap pH can be as high 8. Could be shock as the LFS may have put him in blackwater and your tank has high pH.
Since you have not cycled your tank, you should watch the ammonia and nitrite levels over the next few weeks. If you can, put some media from your existing filter into this tank's filter.

The fish probably had a shock. Sometimes can be fatal.[]
I am not too sure what else can be done. Some salt will alleviate Nitrite poisoning (something that always happen in an un-cycled tank). If you did not condition the water, could be chloramine poisoning too.
A few lessons which hobbyist always learnt the hard way.
1. Always cycle your tank
2. Do not just dump the fish in the tank. Slowly introduce the tank water into the tranportation bag. Only net the fish into the tank after 45min to 1 hr. Do not pour the water from the bag into the tank. This water is probably high in NH3 and can carry disease from the LFS.
3. Always learn about the fish before you buy. Learn the water condition it need: pH, hardness & feeding habits, etc.

hmmm....i tink mayb i too kan cheong....i let it float then 5mins later pour it in.....whoops...[] hope it can pull thru....
it is normal behaviour for oscars.... one of the few fishes that sulk very often
my oscars sulk at the bottom when they are not happy with the food (go on hunger strike)
they do that they eat too much
they do that when i remove certain tankmates
and they do that when they are stressed and scared in a new environment
it is not abt the water i am very sure.
i do 90% water changes for my oscars (and certain cichlids)
and the last time i floated any bag was years ago.. (actually guilty)
your oscar is probably very intimdated by a new surrounding.
dont worry
leave it alone, dont try to do anything else.
water, do more frequently small changes over these few weeks..but for now it is not the reason for its sulking.
and Dont use a net to poke it or knock on the glass to make it swim. let it get used to your tank and after a while it will be in front of the tank trying to bite your finger off [:
having bold active dithers will help...but dithers for oscars have to be rather big...i presume you do not have a very big tank for now so i leave that out now. suitable ones are silver dollars. but you need to get at least 4-6 if not your dithers will end up hiding themselves..
theres a red tail shark abit bigger then it inside....i yesterdae dumped one bag of glass shrimps into the tank oso...2dae like got nutting liaoz...shld i wait to feed it again,or can i feed it already?it can take frogs rite?

yeah it can only be the work of the oscar
try to get him to eat dry food first (can be difficult)
feeders come with the problem of cost, and uncertainty in supply..
i am not that concerned with quarantining the feeders actually, esp when my fish are of a certain size onwards.
But i will not recommend it to everyone because a lot of judgement come into play when it comes to all those mispractices i carry out..
some things i do :
i never quarantine feeders
i use water straight from the tap
i do huge water changes
i dont acclimatise fish before adding to my tanks ..
obviously these are wrong according to all the textbooks.
but my fish young and old had been doing very well with good consistency.
one point i see worth pointing out is that having things work other than textbook ways is not always miracle or luck.
the whole point is to understand what are the reasons behind the textbook recommendations. The rest is up to individual experience and judgement (very impt) to achieve the same desired results. There really is no hard and fast rule to most things .
reading lots of info from internet and rattling off scientific names doenst make one an expert. (if so we will have too many experts all over the world)
but it is true that such knowledge will get us on the right foot and save us a lot of trial and error.
so far i throw in some dried shrimps and frogs...budden i nv seen it eat b4..everytime ani1 goes near the tank,the fish will immediately go hide behind the filter...shy fish arz?lol...

i think your fish kena shocked.....
i got a oscar about 7"....
when i 1st brought back also sink at bottom...thats about 4".
then close light and add some KTP leave abstract in the water...
next day kena wack by tankmate so i took out the tankmate.
the 3rd day alive and responsive....
i think you need remove the red shark soon cuz when it gets better...it is aggresive.
and add some KTP leave abstract to make it stable.
