simon: mts should be hardy rite? I really can't think of any reason other than your tank is a SALT water tank... heh.... ok lousy joke... anyway I suggest this trick: get a plastic cup, put your MTS on the gravel, poke a few holes in the cup to let water in and out, then put cup over MTS in the gravel. check the next day. if they are missing, means they burrowed out, means they DO move. if they are dead in the cup, then can rule out fish attack. anyway maybe you MTS are alive, just deep in your gravel?

as for hornwort, I suggest floating the plant instead of planting it to see if it survives. by floating you eliminate factors like adequate light at the bottom, co2 (can get from atmospheric air), o2, etc? my guess is your other plants are releasing chemicals to keep its growth in check. are your other plants similar in both tanks?

Case 2... nutrients? Fast growers usually need high amounts nutrients including N and P.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

    Simon:

MTS: I started with only four MTS and now I got problem removing them. I had to ambush the army in the middle of night when they come out to feed. My Clown Loaches don't eat them. I believe they probably do well because my tank has coral chips -- kH always high (at least 5 dkH). In a way helps them in building hard shells, right?

Hornwort: In my case, Hornwort grows well in all other tank except my my 2.5ft tank. Could it be P deficiency? That is the only tank with 0.25ppm PO4, the rest has 1.0ppm. They turn more reddish and then leaves start dropping.
