Tripod recommendation for DSLR

Stability is very important for tripods. I used to have a cheap one and when I was shooting by the road side at night, a bus passes by at high speed and the whole thing just topple over. Luckily I caught it in time. So do the math, do you want to save a few hundred on tripod at the expense of your few thousand dollars camera and lenses?
