Its the same as the bright green floating plant that you have btw, they are both mosquito fern, just that they were grown in different light conditions.

Okay, mine never grew into the ugly kind, so it was my presumption that it is due to the minimal light i have.

mine is growing under 13W of light and only recently did it start to grow, almost everyday one new small plant. probably due to nutrient rich water since im dosing using EI method for my iwagumi scape.

Never used any fertilization methods and it multiplies worse than duckweeds for me in the 10gallon tank . Quite an easy plant, The light i used was a 3 years old aquarium light my dad used for his goldfish tank, previously, it was a table lamp until it went bust.

but how come people have difficulty scooping out floating plants? as in for this, they are attached together, so if i remove the parent plant, all the other new plant will be removed too. unless they will detach after awhile? sorry, i never grow floating plants before so dont know how its like.

People have difficulty removing floating plants when the floating plants become like a weed and cover the entire water surface.
Its rather time consuming. I just spent an hour getting rid of duckweed from my tank.

my tank is just a 20 cm cube, so not much problem in removing them, but they really grow dam fast the moment they adapt. but still controllable..
