Woah!! The substrate and the background is very well matched! Good visual effect! Hopefully the water will turn a bit brownish to complete the 'wild' effect.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Yes billy. Certain species will do that. Panaque spp. for sure. But L046 don't seem to exhibit this behaviour.

    Cheers,
eerrrrh... this tank is not for the L46s. It's for the L134, L236, L27, L128 and albino BN.

If panaque will chew on styrafoam, i will sell that L27 away.

I will add black water soon and hopefully the DW will start leeching.

Is it OK to add blackwater during cycling?

Actually it depends on the Pleco itself. Can just test it for a while. Some won't anyhow chew, while others will even chew silicon.

Is it the panaque family that has the reputation to chew foam or silicon? THought they are wood eaters

I thinking for the grasping and damage of foam is partly due to the dentures of the Panaque family when they go round the tank grazing for food. Can imagine that if they can scrap off wood, what is styrofoam to those dentures?!

They are wood eaters indeed. But some of them has itchy mouth chew on everything, including wires if you have a submerge pump in the tank

Not adding any plants... biotope not supposed to have any plants....at least that's what some other people tell me.. if i want to add, I may have to go for echindorous family. Anyways my substrate is purposely thin as I do not intend to do planting.. too much fear from last time...
