I constantly read about the advice of not feeding fish food to SAE and Oto during the initial period of the tank setup so as to ensure that they will feed on the algea instead. But I find this advice sort of like a " easier said than done" thing.
The question to ask here is how long are you going to keep doing that? Because eventually you will have other fish in there and you have to feed them and when the fish food goes in so comes the SAE too. Eventually you are still going to feed fish food to SAE and it is either sooner or later.
I am trying to feed my Torpedos ( Puntius Demonsii ) but some food will still end up in the SAE stomach. So how?

yes, I have to agree with you on your point. Just a matter of time when you algae eaters smarten up and follow your other fishes. You may also try floating food like flakes, what you may do is to overfeeding them, hence allowing them to do their job and clear the algae
