What's the trade name of this fish and where would i be able to find it. Also would like to know if ruby tetra are strong schoolers and any LFS in the east area have it readily in stock.

Nannostomus anduzei is not sold commercially in Singapore since 2002. Perhaps it was available prior, but I really don't recall.

Thanks for the information. Got interested in this fish because of it's size, i kind of like miniature fish.

Indeed, but it's a fish you can hardly find in your tank. Really, I tried.

This specimen was kept in a 2 ft tank. Even then, it's perpetually hiding. Being about 1 cm, not very easy to spot even if it's not hiding.

But would be cool to have 20-30 of those. Are they tight schoolers or would they have to have external influences to school.

My neon tetra seems to be all around the tank.

No. They don't shoal tightly as comparted to rummy nose tetra. Typically, the Nannostomus genus don't bunch up as tightly as other characin. If fact, they often bicker amongst themselves.

How about nannostomus eques, pictures usually show them swimming together.

And what is the typical size it will get to since i see quite a variable of size from different sources 2.5cm - 5cm.

The fishes will still swim together, but do not stay together as a group as 'beautifully' as compared to other characin and cyprinids. Once they feel threatened, they will tighten their formation.

If you are talking about Nannostomus anduzei, maximum size is about 2 cm. Here's a profile from FishBase.
