hi Geogre, may you share with us some valuable experience about your tank substrate and ways to raise the shrimps successfully?
I notice that the imported shrimp size to S'pore is smaller and smaller which indicates that they are heavily havested in Indonesia . So it will be great for the shrimps if aquarists can breed them
Hi George,
How to make the pH stable @ > 8.0? Thanks...
Jeff
George,
Nice shrimplets there. It seems all of them are doing fine in your tank.
Hello friends,
it is really easy to breed the sulavesi shrimps, particulary the freshwater kardinal shrimp. As easy as to breed redbee or tiger shrimps.
What you need is only a good working filtration, a stable temperature und the right food. I feed them with shirakura powder food and a special algae food from a big manufacturer in germany. As the tank substrate I use a thin layer with normal sand. A root and a moss complete the tank content.
Waterchanges: 1 x week 30%. To keep the ph stable I don’t have to do anything. My tap water has already a ph at 8,2. I only add some kh powder after changing the water.

There seems to be two colour forms for Tiwati beauty. Red and purple.
Taken from rva.jp

And also for matano blue dots. Red and maroon.
Are they of the same species though different colour forms?

Hello,
it seems to be different colour forms. The profs in germany are still working to identify this species, I think.
My article about my breeding exeriences is ready to read. Please visit: http://www.crustaforum.com/portal.php
George, are you able to breed Towuti Beauty or also known as Freshwater Harlequin since you said breeding of Sulawesi shrimp is easy??
I doubt so. Didn't manage to keep them alive at pH 7.
Ideally should be pH 8.3 and temp of 27 - 29.

Just got some spongicola. The colours sort of faded when introduced.
Also 1 and only sulawesi "red cherry"
There can only be ONE
Hello everybody,
I am Mura from Cologne, Germany. I am 35 years old and my passion is dedicated to invertebrates,
particularly shrimps. At the moment I have 23 tanks, the smallest containing 12l, the biggest 54l,
which is my most common size. Usually I only have mosses but no other plants in my tanks. The
population in my tanks are snails, 25 different kinds of shrimps and smaller crabs. This hobby has
become my profession over the last year.
I occasionally try to breed shrimps successfully to gain more information about optimal conditions.
The parameters of my tab water are ph8.0, GH9, KH5, my water parameters are ph8.3, GH11, KH6,
temperature 28.5
Currently I have 8 different kinds of Sulawesi shrimps since the beginning of December and had the
opportunity to observe them and gain information about the optimal keeping conditions.
I hold a group of 35 cardinal shrimps which regularly carry eggs, with between 80-100 young shrimps.
From my observations, I assume that the gestation period is between 18 and 20 days. What seems
interesting is that the young shrimps grow fairly quickly in comparison to other kinds, young shrimps
reach a size of about 1 cm within 6 weeks, which can be explained by the higher water temperature.
Keeping the fresh water cardinal shrimp seems neither easy or difficult in my opinion, it is important to
have constant parameters so that the ph will not fall below ph 7,5 and the temperature not below 26°C.
Together with the cardinal shrimps, I keep snails of the kind Tylomelania. The favorite food is Shrimp
Wafers by Ocean Nutrition, otherwise I feed several flakes foods with higher contents of algae.
Here are some videos of my Sulawesi shrimps:

And some more photo impressions:
Thanks for your interest,
Mura.

hi Mura,
May I ask what type of gravel you are using?
Sticking this for now, so that anyone intending to keep them knows what they are getting into.
Read about what their natural habitat is like, the water parameters (pH, temperature and so on). The best way to keep them is to house them close to the parameters of their natural habitat as much as possible.
im from indonesia, but this shirmp its still cost much
i am a newbie and my english is no good
im sorry if im wrong or have a bad setence
