My butterfly group is having an outing at Ubin this coming Sunday. All are welcome to join in. We will be shooting at the butterfly hill past the Npark HQ and sensory trail, probably after lunch. Expect a ~1km walk to each destination.

As wind build up is quite early in the morning, we meeting up at the Jetty rather early.

    Date: 3rd Feb (Sunday)
    Time: 8am
    Meeting place: Jetty to Ubin.

We will have lunch over there and probably go for a short walk through the sensory trail. Those who want to leave before or after lunch can feel free to do so. The entire outing should last till 2-3pm.

Simon, CNY is too near to your outing, and somemore will have to change all the tank water during that period of time. Looks like will have to give it a miss..

Hope you people have a great time catching the butts!

no such season, it is all year round except for the super wet and dry season. We also notice period when some species from up north fly down to Singapore. The best place to hunt for them is in our nature reserve, although there is no guarantee you will find something while you are there. But there you will find the most colorful and fast flyers compared to the urban butts.

Fast flyers means we will not be able to shoot anything right?

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

only when they are at rest, feeding or puddling. But it is possible to shoot them, just have to be at the right place at the right time with the right thing to attract

for some insects like ants, and maybe spiders, you can blow lightly at them to get their attention like this guy

why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.
