Hi people, please help me identify if the mass inside this yamato are eggs? If so, i understand the shrimplets need brackish water - how to i convert tap water into brackish one? I did some reading but am still blur. Do i put the yamato into brackish water for it to hatch or wait till the shrimplets grow then try to transfer them into brackish water? Thanks for any advise.

Mike Noren let the eggs hatch in the same tank, and then siphon the larvae to a brackish tank.

Edit: Robert has beaten me to it, good job!
Yes i read the link before, thanks. But pardon me, i am pretty an idiot when it comes to "part per thousand or million" - i dont know what it means.. I only got a bag of crystal salt bought long ago from aquarium shop, can i add those? How do i trace when the shrimplets will hatch cos there are fishes & shrimps in the tank? I am afraid by that time all would have been eaten.
I have mine with egg before, but no chance to actually raise it.
You may want to consider isolating your fishes/shrimps. However, if you are transferring your shrimps, I don't know if they are prone to miscarriage due to stress.
From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concentration
1L is about 1kg. So ppt = g/kg = g/L, grams of salt per litre of water.Originally Posted by www.wikipedia.org
I am an idiot in calculations at times, so not sure if I am correct on this. If someone could confirm this...
Also, not sure about the crystal salt, but it has been advised that to create the saline envinronment, salt for marine aquariums should be used.
Hi plumboy,
Any updates?

Pregnant yamato. Saw little wrigglers past few days but as soon as they will seen wriggling in the open, they were snapped up by fishes.

I did it the different way. Because my tank is a communnity tank and hence I cannot just add brackish water or simply raise the pH of the tank. So usually I will take out the pregnant yamotoes and isolate them in another tank which is slightly alkaline. But this is a bit troublesome though.
Ya I have the intention to breed them but space is a problem. Anyway what's your breeding tank conditions?
