Will Canon improve on the 100mm to a 100mm Mk II?
Pre-PMA 2008: Nikon today replaced the Micro Nikkor 60mm F2.8, adding two aspherical elements to control aberrations - a world's first for SLR micro lenses. A Silent Wave Motor, ED glass lens element and the latest Nano Crystal Coat technology have also been added to bring this lens bang up to date.

Actually, Nikon also launched the new D60 (now both Canon and Nikon has D60!), AF-S DX Nikkor 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR and AF-S DX Nikkor 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR amongst other point and shoot camera.

Hmm the D60 seems to be a minor upgrade from D40 only.
Certainly seems to be the case. Upgraders were hoping for more of a step toward the D80 direction.
As for the macro lens, I think Canon should upgrade the really outdated EF 50 mm f2.5 macro. It's time for a internal focusing USM version that gives 1:1 magnification. But of course, a EF 100 mm f/2.0 L Macro USM would be nice (and heavy).

well, the d60 has expeed image processing engine (as in d3/d300), dust removal and 'air flow system' to dispose the dust into an 'intenal dust bin'.
with the expeed, the high iso may be better than d40x.

I don't mind upgrading the 100mm to something new. It's about time isn't it? So when will they release the f/2.0 L version?
EF 100 mm f/2.0 IS L Macro USM Even heavier.
Starting price? Est about 2.5k?
Cheers!

They also introduced the PC-E Nikkor 24mm f/3.5D ED with the 45mm and 85mm to be released in the near future.

Can't keep up...sigh. But I definitely want the 60mm macro and 24-70. With those two I would be laughing very loud... till i see the D3 then.. let's take it one at a time.
