choy, I believe he was using Tv mode, 1/60s is chosen by the camera. He was using a 105mm not the 200mm :P
stan, but the white wing tip is overexposed :P
Butterfly wings are symmetrical, so just trace and copy from the good side and use transform to recreate the bad wing If done with the original image will give better results.
here is one of my PSed butterfly
the left wing was badly tattered

aiya, the camera is just a tool. My favorite 5-bar sword was also taken with the 300D, and I'm very proud of that too
wa lau.. are you the one that changed the title of the thread?
Sorry about the wrong name.... btw my name is Jeffrey and not Jeffery
Most of it with flash except the last 2 pic that was taken with ISO 3200 and ISO 8000 respectively.
Point taken.. will change that..
er.. what is x-sync speed.. are you saying the speed too fast or too slow?
No problem with the comments. I am here to learn although I have to admit I was quite bothered by it the whole day....
Seen your PSed picture and you know what? I can;t see the difference... Damn.. still need to learn to differentiate between a good pic and a bad pic... well this is my 3rd time taking macro of insects.. long way to go... maybe next time you can point out the areas of improvements...
Billy, you win lor... I buy already then you say this kind of thing... But on a serious note, I have always felt that photography is dependent 80% skill and 20% equipment. I just have to work on that 80%....

why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

maybe he selected x-sync without noticing it.

rememer you mentioned about my crop? Below is the original pic of the housefly taken hand held. Was I too far from the pic and hence when I cropped I lost some details?

if the subject is sharp, cropping to that size shouldn't be any problem. However, looking at the cropped version it looks otherwise, so you should crop it such that it still have a certain degree of sharpness
Another pic of a dragon fly... over exposed and over saturated but I hope at least it's sharp

and I thought it is adjustment, right? even on the 40D you can set it to sync at a fixed 1/250s or otherwise
