Riccia orginated as being an emerged plant. They are actually the same. Lyh is correct. After Riccia is being submerged for sometime, the most obvious difference you would notice is the size of leaf.
Thanks for the quick replies! Hehe.
Anyway, here's what i have spotted over at www.tropica.com website.
"Under certain circumstances, Riccia develops a dark green, transparent form that lacks aerenchyma or air filled pores. This form is heavier than water and sinks to the bottom of the aquarium. The heavy, dark green form is though to be a hibernating winter form since it avoids freezing by sinking to the bottom. "
Interesting right? haha.
Cheers, Happy lunar new year!
can Riccia go without co2?
thanks
riccia cannot go without CO2, at least that is my experience. Once I inject Co2 they grow like nothing and pearl
I have light green sinking riccia with no co2 injection.
I used to have dark green sinking riccia too.
Show you picture when I have time.
Difference is Sinking Riccia dont produce pearling unlike Floating riccia(pearl like crazy). People get riccia is to see them pearling, many people would said what's the use of getting riccia that is not pearling, they mean the sinking riccia. Ask Jervis, he would said the same thing.
