those you see in ntuc are horti sticks.
i am using the green one.
select the one with the least phosphate and the green one has about 3%.
if you want to use it in your tank, push it deep into the gravel

Aquatic fert like root monster and terrestrial fert like horti sticks and jobe sticks differ in one major way: the amount of N-P-K. Nitrogen-Phosphorus-Potassium.

Terrestrial ferts usually contain much higher levels of N-P-K. They packaging indicated the levels with 3 numbers like 8-12-8, which means 8%N, 12%P and 8%K.

Aquatic ferts, usually have low or zero amount of N and P. If any, almost never in the form of NO3 or PO4.

Some plants like Echinodorus love the high levels of P in terrestrial ferts. Most of them start popping plantlets likely crazy when fertilised with terrestrial ferts.

Note, some forumers, including myself, have experienced high levels of PO4 in the water after using terrestrial ferts. I can think of 2 reasons. First, plants prefer to get P through the roots. With high levels of P available to them in the substrate, they may ignore waterborne PO4. Second, simple leeching of the fert from the substrate. So don't use too much, and buy the ones with the lowest level of P. Jobe sticks are big, so break them into 2 or 3 pieces.

maybe you want to try both types.
use the 16-2-6 first and wait for a month.
take note of the plant growth.
following month use the one with higher p.
observe again and compare how your plants are doing.

i used horti sticks with lowest p composition.

Just don't get anything higher then single digit for P. I got tricked... bought Jobes for Aquatic Plants. It was 8-24-8 (or something like that). [] Jobes for Ferns and Jobes for Houseplants are ok.

I just read this thanks to links from other posting.

    Thks Vinz for the info.

Vinz and all : Just to be really sure here before trying ... I had thought all along artificial fertilizer for terresterial plants are not suitable for water plants as they may contain harmful subtances for eg. high level of ammonia compound which may be harmful to fishes. Am I being phobia and wrong here ?

    Thks.

If you happen to be at Bukit Merah Central, the NTUC there sells them both green and brown type. I bought the green type $4 for 30 sticks.

Heard so many good reviews abt the Jobe stick but after using it for 2 mths, find there's no difference in my plant, my lotus becoming smaller as days goes by.
I insert the stick near the roots of the lotus.

perhaps your lotus is deficient in some nutrient which the sticks do not provide? The nutients provided by jobe sticks are

    13% N
    4% P2O5
    5% K2O
    0.2% Cl

This means jobes sticks only look to provide the essential NPK for plants and is lacking most of the other macro and micro nutrients. Perhaps you can try fortifying your lotus with something else like JBL 7-balls? or add some trace mineral ferts.
