Hi, hope my views help.
1) are they very aggressive?
All dwarf cichlids are aggressive to a certain extent since they are very territorial fishes. They are most aggressive when they are breeding or brood caring. However, i have no problem with them in my 3ft community tank since its fully planted with space for other fishes to swim away when the apistos get overly aggressive.
2) are they hardy apisto?
I wouldn't say if they are hardy or not, but rather, they are more tolerant to changes in water parameters as compared to other species. If your water is in good and clean condition, even sensitive species can live a long life and hence become "hardy" in your sense.
3) i will be getting 12 corydoras hasbrosus(rougly 1cm big) as dither fishes.. do you think the apisto will attack the cory?
Yes they will attack the cories when they are brood caring. Until then, the cories should be safe.
4) what is the best pH for this apisto?
They can tolerate acidic to slightly alkaline water. However, its best to keep them in slightly acidic water as this is natural to their habitat. pH between 6.5 to 5 would be favorable in our aquarium environment.
5) i intend to breed them. was wondering how to see that they are ready to breed pair?
Apistos are non monogamous and males will mate with afew females in the wild. Hence, they should pair up rather quickly. Female will turn bright yellow when she is ready to spawn.
