Yup, seems like you found the sweet spot.
The first picture got the wrong focus, the leg is sharp body a bit soft.
The rest looks great except the 3rd with rather high level of noise. Heavily cropped?

    Joining us tomorrow?

I am an advocate of modesty when allowing textual intrusion into the photographs, especially when the text is not of particular pertinence to the subject at hand
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

2nd picture is quite OK la.
Unless using a tripod or monopod, the trick to manual focus fine tuning is actually on the breathing technique. You will get the hang of it with more practice.
So, tomorrow joining us to Sime forest?

Nice pictures Jeff. The bee is nice and sharp. Would have been better if can see part of the head. The butterfly is a bit blur at the tip of the wing and the tail. But I'm just nitpicking. Great shots! What matter most is you have fun shooting them.
