    hi all, i intend to transfer my 2 ft planted to 4 ft. therefore, was wondering can i reuse the fert and gravel. i current had abt 1 inch of fert n 3 inch of gravel in the 2 ft tank. pls advise! tks!

    should not be a problem reusing them, but removing them will take some time, one way is to remove as much gravel as you can then remove the remaining base fert. mix with new base fert and lay into the 4ft tank, same goes with the gravel.. but do wash the gravel, since it was used before (dirt trapped)

    Hi msmurf, be prepared to spend at least half a day washing the old and new gravels.

    I just shifted froma 2 feet to a 3 feet tank sometime back.

    I remove abt 1" top layer. Then, just scope the remaining layer, and use as the base of the new tank.

    I then add new base fert, before placing the old top layer back.

    Finally placeing a new layer of new sand.

    Save me from washing the old sand, as there would be some trace of fert, and any waste will be treated as fert. after all to the palnts []

    forget abt washing the new gravel, if u get lonstar which comes
    in the sack.. its supposely washed before packing

    tks all! seem very ma fan leh. no choice, think gotta find one fine day to do all this ****, will get all material beforehand.

    btw tks wks, ur green algea is doing fine in my 4 ft. i pasted them on the driftwood. hope they ping ann wu si then i can give to others too. hee.e.e.e ......
