i have a few of them listed inside that section but i find them growing very tall to be mid-ground plants.. some are even out of the water surface.. i thought mid ground plants are generally shorter??

My choice of mid-ground plant will be Blyxa japonica. You can also try Echinodorus quadricostatus if you don't mind them creeping too fast. MM and MU also can but needs frequent trimming to maintain their height. you can also consider Cryptocorynes.

i now having a huge headache with a particular part of my tank...
1)i have green lotus in the front and not sure of background plant to put ( thinking of cryptos)
    2) currently there is quite a big amt of space in front of that lotus and on the left and right side of it and i not sure wat type of mid-ground plant i shld get..
    3) someone gave me a 4-colour lotus plantlet (still growing) and im thinking of making it the center piece when it gets big but my ground is covered with elatine.. when the 4 clour lotus gets big, will it affect growth of the elatine?

The shaded elatine might either die off slowly or not grow as fast. Leave them alone for now. If they don't do well, remove the affected ones and put some short low-light mid-ground plants in their place.

Same for the green lotus, a short low-light in front and at the sides, and a taller low-light plant behind. Possibilities: crypts, java fern, short anubias, java moss on driftwood/rocks.

Search the plant catalogs at the following websites. For anubias, barteri and nana looks the same, but one has shorter stems... about and inch or slightly more. The taller one has stems in access of 2 inches for large leaves.
    http://www.tropica.com
    http://www.dennerle.com

All cryptos can handle low light. However, crypts are not easy to find in Serangoon North.

    Hi M0rph3us,

You should know where to get cryptocoryne as a reasonable price. Both you and I were at Teo's farm. In addition, at C328 can get you all the crypts you want. Place an order with them and delivery to C328 is every Mon and Thu. Collection is from afternoon onwards. You only need to know what you want and that can be done by reading up or visiting www.dennerle.com or www.tropica.com. Better yet, visit them, take the plant book and tell them the code number directly from their plant catalogue so that there is no confusion. Don't try to order over the phone, they don't entertain.

    cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

There's three decent English aquatic plant guide books on the market.

    1. Tropica aquarium plant (green cover) S$25 but hard to find

    2. Dennerle (white and green cover) S$25 to S$30, order at internet for S$15

    3. Oriental's Aquarium Plant Handbook (Old version has slightly orangy cover) S$10-$25
    3. Oriental's Aquarium Plant Handbook (New version with lotus on cover) S$35 to $45

Check the AQ forum for a recent post on Oriental Plant catalogue for more details.

I bought a copy of the New Oriental plant book from Pet Safari at S$45, but when Loupgarou and I went to Teo's yesterday, it was selling for only S$35. Maybe you can ask Loupgarou to sell you his old plant handbook at a discount.

    Cheers,
