hey it looks cool and nice!!
from the picture it looks like the bottle has not been cut before!
Hi,
Was quite bored at home so photographed my cryptocoryne bottling process, hopefully it would become some useful references be it positive or negative demonstration.
1) Get a large mineral water bottle, I prefer to use “ice mountain” brand because of the design of the circular regular ribbed body which allows the top and bottom section of the bottle to interlock together when inserted (see last photograph). Cut the bottle into 2, the proportion depends on the amount of soil you intend to add and the height of the plant.
2) Trim the top rim of the bottom section along the wider circumference of the ribs to obtain a wider rim to facilitate the insertion of the top section later.
3) Trim the base rim of the top section along the narrower circumference of the ribs according to the height you want.
4) Cut 2 slits at opposite side of the base rim of the top section to facilitate the insertion of the top section into the bottom section later.
5) Add soil into the bottom section until the required height and plant in the cryptocorynes.
6) Add some gravel on top of the soil to prevent the soil particles from floating up when water is added.
7) Add water until the top of the gravel is just covered.
Insert the top section into the bottom section until they interlock together.

Sorry to be digging up an old thread.
Is this bottling setup air tight ?

Misery.
