It should be Apistogramma baenschi which is available recently.

Search on the net for quite a while until i gave up. Had no choice but to ask for help once again to ID this pair for me.
Had a hard time trying to take proper photos of them but still not really successful. Hopefully the experienced hobbist will help me out. Thanks.
Here are the photos.

Yups. Should be A. baenschi.
Thanks genes for th quick reply. But i am not too sure if they are the same fish which you mentioned in the other thread. Or is it that my male still very young? The apisto in the other thread looks really good!
Try to snap a picture with his fins extended. Put a mirror in and let him flare.

Will try to find a small mirror and make him flare before taking some photos again tomorrow. Just shifted the pair into the tank.
When i brought the pair from LFS the name was not A. baenschi. Could it be the LFS named the pair wrongly?
I guessed labelled as Inka.
God will make a way, where there seems to be no way
Pepe, if it is labeled as Inka, then it is the same fish. Apistogramma sp. "Inka 50" was the old name before it was formally described. And most importers still stick to the old name.
Looks like the pair are wild, you bought them from NKS, pepe2403?
I bought the pair from rainbow in serangoon north. But the label did not state inka. But the name started with letter N. But i forgot what already.
A.nijisseni?
Okay, we need a clearer picture then...

Here's a link with photos on A.nijisenni. Maybe you could do a comparison.
Yes i am pretty sure it is A.nijisseni. That's the name labelled on the tank. Will try to get better photos of the fish and post again.
Hmm, i don't see a resemblance of the 'inka 50' in any of the pictures. 'inka 50' females have very dark and prominent zebra like stripes . The big blotch in the middle of the female & the larger dark patch on the face shows 'panda' characteristic.
The male nij doesn't have long striking red dorsal like the inka.
It is one of the cutest of the panduro family. Just watch out on the temper of the female when spawning.
Are those seashells? Looks like those i've collected from the beach.
Cheers!
Benetay
Thanks Benetay. Though the colours are not showing yet, the female does have the panda patches. But they are not interested in the cave which i provided for them at all. They are always hiding under the plants.
They are not shell breeders, leaving the shell there might post a problem. They can get stuck in there not knowing how to get out. Unlike shell dwellers another type of cichild who breeds using shells.
Just leave them alone, they're considered one of the easiest to keep apisto. The spotlight for this family is the female not the male. The female shows a nicer colouration when breeding.
Cheers!
Benetay
Opps then i better get the shells out once i get home.
Yep you are right. The female attracted me with it's colouration at the LFS.

Thats a nice pair of Apistogramma nijisseni, take good care of them. Like what benetay had mentioned, the fish from this family has a bad temper, don't mix with any other apistos.
They are currently in a small tank of their own. Tank size is 28cmx20cmx18cm running on hang on filter. Is that sufficient for them?
Cheers,
