    Hey all

Shot with D3 and Tamron 180mm. Pics are same as those shot with Benetay as I went back to the same location today to practise and play with new set up. All shot handheld. Also, trying this new type of 'border' instead of previous black border. C&C more than welcome.

wow looks much better already. Envy you with the 180mm tamron. Now you get better background.

Jeff are you trying to leave me out of the 100 series macro group?

    Cheers!

    Jeffrey,
Envy you, got new toy and so much time to play around with it.
    Handheld? Very good results.
The new text layout is more discreet, not distracting.

Wah, you got new toy again. Celaka, bought the last one some more. But seriously, the tammy 180 is a good lens. I took a few pics with it on the last outing using the lady's lens. Very sharp. Hmm ... now I got poison already.

Hahaha ... don't you try to poison me now. Just thinking what kind of nonsense I can shoot with the Tammy 180mm and my 2x teleconverter. Hmmm ... 360mm can shoot butts on top of trees already.

Don't need 2.8 lah..... I shoot with 5.6 already scared.....

    Simon,
thanks for the compliment... still working hard... trying to shoot more often in the weekdays... just learnt simple things like leaning my forehead on the flash... can you imagine I just started doing that... Been shooting with my eye barely touching the viewfinder, which explains hand shake on some of the pics.

jeff, very sweee man. this is a tamron 180? I see it has the same problem as the EF 100/2.8, it renders some light points as polygons.

just a note on latin annotation, seeing that you are spending so much efforts. latin names should always be in italics, but no need to italicise the "sp", "cf", "aff" etc. (which is also never capitalised).

an ƒ/2.8 lens is still desirable even if you don't shoot at wide open, it allows more light when you are composing and focusing.

I notice in your EXIF that colour space is "uncalibrated". does that mean you did not set the colour space to use? I recommend you use Adobe RGB consistently throughout your post processing, and saving your PSD in 16 bit aRGB. only when you generate your JPEG file then you convert to 8-bit sRGB (and NEVER save it back into your PSD).

Meaning the camera colour space is set as Adobe RGB in the beginning?

Thanks for letting me know that. Did not realize it.

I thought I did. Do you know how/where I should do the callibration?

    Hi HWchoy

I just checked Edit-> Color Settings

    It looks like

Settings: North America General Purpose 2

    Working spaces:

RGB: sRGB IEC61966-2.1 (other choices include: Adobe 1998, Apple RGB, Colormatch RGB, Prophoto RGB)
CMYK: US web coated (SWOP) ver 2
    Gray: dot grain 20%
    Spot: dot grain 20%

    Color Management Policies:

RGB: preserve embedded profile (other choices include: off, convert to working RGB)
    CMYK: preserve embedded profile
    Gray: preserve embedded profile

    Should I change anything?

    Hey Jeffrey,
You're shooting raw and you still have EXIF in your final JPEG. How do you do that? I can't seem to do that. I convert my NEF to TIFF using ifranview and all the EXIF info is gone. What do you use to convert your NEF to JPEG?

    Hi Luenny,
Using PSCS, I can crop, resize, change exposure etc on the raw file and not lost any EXIF on the final JPG file. I do not know about other software though.
