u can get the stargrass @ Gen X. I bought a small bunch for $2.00. Condition wise, I think requires higher CO2.

    Cheers.

    hello alan

very nice glosso....like to know your lighting wattage....not a sign of algae on the leaf edge!

Are you guys sure that it is Heteranthera Zosteraefolia aka Water Stargrass...the leaf formation is alittle thin to be it....looks like Didiplis Diandra aka Water Hedge...

reason for saying so is that the one alan's got, the leaf blade is rather thin while the stargrass that i used to have is quite broad.

    Hi Alan,

May I know how long does your glosso take to grow before getting a 'carpet lawn' effect.
I have some glosso but they are very slow on growing and the leaves got quite a lots of spot algae, any suggestion how to get rid of them? I already have about 20 yamatos and 5 otos for my 2 feet tank.

    Thanks,
    Dino

    Hi guys,

1st of all, thanks for your kind comments.

My Glosso is almost about 3 mths old since I started, trimmings was done regularly now as 2nd & 3rd layer is forming up. I am using 4 x 25watts Arcadia Freshwater Tubes (color temperature of 7,500K) for my ~48gal tank. For lightset, I am using JBJ America model (quite good reflector).

Base fert JBL and I have not add fert since my white spot problem and plants are still doing well. I was using Dennerle G7, E15, V30 & TMG those day. I will like to try more cheaper ones when I am done with this currect supply eg Seachem & Sera.

    Jacian,

Yes I do have the same problem, photo cannot really see as it was dark. Got to off 2 tubes infront to prevent reflection. What will u do to these blacken leaves? I am thinking of trimming them away.

    Dino,

I take some time for glosso to take off, to reach a 'carpet lawn' effect, glosso should take 2-3 months. For spot algae, I think Oto and SAE should be effective. I was having BBA 1+mth ago, took 1-2 week of remove them manually. Then I added 5 SAE & 5 Otos to help me control these algae problem. Frequent water change & controll the amount of fertilizer used may help to prevent algae problem.
