    Hi guys,

My old school mates have setup a "past versus present" rugby match.
I have been asked to play but decided I can take photos better!
Can you picture it? 14 year olds going at it with 30-40 plus year olds?
OMG, this is going to be hilarious.

As titled, would it be possible to have decent pictures for the game?
Or should just use my 28-105 mm zoom lens?
btw I'm not looking for sports page shots just a couple of decent "kodak moments".

    Any thoughts or comments welcome.

You are probably better with a 28-105 or 70-200 zoom range, depending on what you are aiming to capture. The game for the former and close up action for the later.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

its passable with 28-105, but a 70-200 is much prefered. I was shooting Rubgy 7s at the Padang with my 80-200/2.8 and sometimes I even tack on a 1.4x TC.

if you use a macro lens to shoot such things, switch over the focus range limiter to keep it searching through the macro range. its not so bad lah, my 80-200/2.8L don't even have USM and its still perfectly capable.

oh so you're from acs... that makes us ex-rivals then... only managed to beat you guys once in the finals during my 6 years but i think we kind of belong to different eras... anyways apologise for being out of point... this thread is supposed to be about photography... hope moderators don't mind my slight probing. thanks.
