I have a pair African Cichlids (Melanochromis Auratus) in a planted tank setup. Substrate is coral sand with pH of 8.5 and I am growing Hygrophila Difformis and Java ferns in it. They tend to leave the plants alone though theirs occasional fights do break off a stem or leave off but minor damage. Good thing about having plants is that they help break line of sight thus reduce aggression.
They spawned 13 fries for me some months back so I guess the plants do not affect their spawning mood.
Yours Truly, Avan
I went into the woods because I wanted to live deliberately. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life... to put to rout all that was not life; and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.
