Dear all, my friend's yamatoes are dying (like 9/10). the tanks para are:

2 feet tank (just started abt 2 weeks ago)
CO2 with diffuser at 1-2 bps
    2x36W lights
    Temperature at abt 29.5 degrees

Otherwise, the Otos and SAEs are doing fine.

What could have killed the Yamatoes? the temp? what nitrite, nitrate, ammonia levels should be safe for Yamatoes? greatly appreciate if anyone can shed light on this.

are they new to the tank? did they all die at
the same time? what colour were the dead shrimps?
    Like cooked shrimp?

they r sensitive to nitrate and high temp,
your's already at the max, but some members
here manage to keep them alive at 30 degree.
If they r new to the tank, and starts dying only
after u introduce them, then it could be due to
    acclimisation.

the usual step is float the bag for 1hour
during that 1 hour, add some tank water
every 15-20mins interval, till u attain
    100% mix

Was at Rainbow and bought 10 Yamato shrimps. When they pack them in the bag, I requested for a leaf or something for the prawns to cling on to. They looked at me strangely and pointed that I could buy potted plants to pack with the shrimps. Better to add a note on the FAQ that we better bring our own leaf for the shrimps as usually LFS can't be bothered.
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Chan usually knows what to do, when i buy shrimps from him he will put leaf or even a little sponge inside for the shrimps to cling on.

If you want to play safe, bring your own media for the shrimps to cling on it's safer this way as some ignorant shop keeper just refuse to do it even thought after much persistance.
    Cheers!

yup, a leaf, a sponge do wonders for shrimps during
transporting. I read it out from a oversea site, that shrimps
with nothing to cling on, get transport shock when they
    get thrown ard the bag.

so, for those getting shrimps, remember to put in a leaf,
a stalk of plant.. or anything.. for the shrimps to hang on
    to their dear life.
