    Hi,

I keep 3 of these right now, maybe can help you out a little. Which ones are you interested in getting? There are the real "sea fans", which are rather small and very highly-branched. This one's not doing very well for me, it's not deteriorating but not flourishing either! This one you must give plenty of current to prevent algae from growing on it. THen there are the sea whips (Gorgonians), which IMHO are easier to keep. I give them loads of light (although some are non-photosynthetic), and fairly strong currents to keep the branches swaying about. Also I feed them occasionally with the juice from de-frosted mysis shrimp and small bits of home-made fish paste. Temp-wise it'd be good to keep them below 28C - mine are constantly at 29C in the day and around 27C at night. Water parameters the same as keeping any sort of coral. I also add iodine supplements, kalkwasser and Liquid Gold every day.

    Good luck with the fans!

    Regards,
    Hong Yee

I don't know what type are the ones i'm interested in.....

    Blue colour when bloom.

The Uncle at the LFS, tell me to get plantons bottom food for it.

According to him, lighting not very impotant, need current.

If you got a pict will be much better to clear my doubts on the diff types of sea fan.

I'll post a pict once I get a chance to take a pict.

Anymore ppl out there with fans in their tank?

    Thank you[]

    Hey ZC...

Ya seafan that blooms blue 'flowers'...I have that one too. But little is known about this species and though I feed my whole tank wif frozen plankton I am not too sure if the sf actually eats.

I think it is important to feed it wif juices of brine /mysis shrimp. If not, I believe it will waste away.

i seriously doubt that the bottled stuff really works.. i dun think anything can survive in that enclosed sealed bottle...

Oh, that blue one - nice ah? when I got extra $$ shall go and buy one too! =) Yes, I'm infatuated with Gorgonians. I seriously think the blue species needs to be fed, since the polyps are huge. They are even take baby brine shrimp - sometimes my yellow polyp sea whip captures large chunks of minced fish and seem to be eating them.
