Photo Tank

Hi,
I have just setup a photo tank, size is 12"Lx8"Bx12"H.
Black oyama paper on bottom, both sides and back.
Will this do as a photo tank for small fishes?

Looking good Richard, now find a good place to use it. A room or an area not affected by natural lights and away from the window. 2 flashes by the side one flash by the top. You are all set! Can't wait to see some stunning images you take!

how do you put flash on the side? both side are black.

The sides should not have been covered. Only the back and the top strip would be sufficient.

I was thinking to cut down on reflection.
Looks like I'll have to remove the oyama for the sides.

Cool tank. Should really go to visit your place sometime. Keep talking about it but never get to do it. How about I go to your place to shoot one of these weekend and then we go TPTP after that? Still need to pay you back some $$$.

Most hobbyists set up their tank first and thereafter wondering whether to take pictures. As for Richard, he is the other way round

haha. But certainly, it is good to plan every detail right from the start.

Will this phototank for fish only or aquascape photography?

Maurice, always wanted a photo tank since benetay told me about it. Tank is mainly for fish, too small for planted. Anyway I am lousy at planted.

Hi,
Got some pictures I took with my photo tank. Got only 1 flash so it goes to the top of the tank. Any comments are welcomed.
Got this killie from LFS, sorry I don't know the name, but it's beautiful. Can anyone help me put a name to it?

Those Killi Guy seems to me like "Nothobranchius Foerschi"...
but the blue color is not so solid as those of mine:

Nice attempt but I believe you can do better than that. After that, you can teach me since I'll be missing the workshop too.

Take Histro's shots as reference and motivate yourself to reach higher so that you can be my sifu (master).

By the way, how come I still see reflection at the back of the tank? Did you put a mirror in there?

Those killies you have is much nicer, those that I bought are most probably of a lower grade. Cheap too

The reflection is from the mirror, they like to flare at their own reflection.
I guess my photos are all too dark, not enough flash. Got no choice, now only got 1 flash.

Richard, it's the exposure...the 1st 3 shots look underexposed. 4th one looks ok. The 5th one has some problems with chromatic aberration.

I ps'ed one of the underexposed shots. adjusted the levels-[brightness/contrast]

Thanks, my photo looks "dead" compared to what you have done.
I was using one flash and it shows. The workshop really shows what
multiple flash can do. Hope I can improve on my photos.
Also learning to use PS now. Must thank CK for showing me what PS can do.
