One of the three endemic freshwater crab of Singapore (means it cannot be found anywhere else on Earth), the Johnson' Freshwater Crab Irmengardia johnsoni measures roughly 3 cm across the carapace and lives in forest streams and swamps in the Catchment and Nature Reserves.

This female specimen is gravid and you can see the babies under her belly. Specimen courtesy of RMBR.

Is this the one that hit our shore recently? I saw some similar looking crabs at Polyart today.

Sorry choy, I think I missed the very first line indeed out of excitment. It is a good feeling to witness something native to our country.

Yes, indeed. The word "Johnsoni" sounds very very familiar. I'll look forward to the other two species.

    Hi Choi

And? What about the pictures of Johora singaporiensis? Do You have breeding ones in the RMBR? I guess when one has a female with little ones like the Irmengardia above it should be possible to get them "big". Only problem is You probably need much space since Potamids generally are very aggressive and when the younglings become mature they start to develop their territorial behaviour and fght against each other.
