My friends from Europe came to Borneo for the first time & wish to see the natural habitat of Nepenthes northiana & other species.

When I reached the secret location, the big N. northiana was gone. Then I went to second location, it gone too!

I felt so up set & embarrashing. It took me some times to explain to my friends about what has happened. Luckily, on the 3rd location, we saw N. northiana hiding behind the bushes.....and I hope commercial collector did not see that one.....

Heart broken.....the plant is gone, only 2 rotten pitchers of N. northiana left on the site.

Everyone is happy after seeing N. northiana at last.

    What a beauty! (Nepenthes northiana)

I pray that nobody will remove this plant forever!

    Natural hybrid, Nep. bauensis.

    Michael,
I can only hope these "fools" manage to propergate them well...
Yes, its an oxymoron answer but better they propergate them well than the specimen gets snuffed out...

So beautiful. I hardly come across any pitcher plant here in the forests.
They do best near the swamps, right? Maybe these swamps are being cleared?

Maybe you should try cultivating one?

    Thanks for sharing, Michael.

It is very cheap in Europe market now as those plants can propergate using tissue culture.

No, it is from the dry land, not from the swamp. Yes, i cultivated some at home. I only take the cutting without removing the whole plant.
