I recently replaced 3 of my T5 tube, and end up buying "cool" instead of the normal philip "daylight" bulb.

the "cool" lights seems yellowish compared to the regular "daylight" bulb. will this cause algae problem for my tank ?

Are you referring to Cool White? Cool white has a colour temperature of 4000K as compared to the perferred daylight of 6500k. I will not say it will definitely cause algae problem but it is not a good spectrum for the plants.

I believe the moss should do fine. I used to grow java moss under poor lighting conditions. But I cannot say if algae will visit.

Bro, I worked in a lighting shop before, there are three types of general fluorescent lighting. Day, Cool and Warm lighting. Day light generally is 6500K and will give you a more correct colour reading when you look at things. Whereas Cool is more bluish and Warm is yellowish giving a nice warm feeling. Generally lighting for plants should be at least 6500K which falls into daylight group. Hope this helps.

Plants usually use 6500k. So i would advise getting daylight tubes.

I am currently using Hopar brand T5 Light which stated 10000K White light...is it ok for planted tank or should i downgrade to 6500K?
Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.

I am currently using a combination of 2 X 54W Hopar 10000K and 2 X 54W Osram 6500K for my 4 ft planted tanks. Happy with healthy plant growth so far....

I am currently using Magmun 3 x 24 T5HO, it is also come with 10000k white light. I feel that plants like 6500k more than 10000k. My plants grow very well with my PL 6500k compared to my current 10000k. I am going to change the tubes.

    Any bros experience the same?

yes, agree with larlee, MH lights usually generates alot of heat so you must have a solid cooling fans to cool temperature of your tank.
