Very nice layout of plants, but it will be hassle to maintain a dutch garden layout. Your choice of stem plants will grow very fast and might choke out your foreground plants in time.

I see also someone is using benny's method in action for the filters. Very unconventional, but IMHO, quite effective for frequent travellers.

Hi bro, i consider to start a small tank of 2x1x1, like yours.
May i know which plants in your 1st photos, are suitable for beginner. I have zero knowledge on planted tank.....
And what substrate you are using, where to buy it, and what's the cost?
    Is CO2 a must?

    Thanks

ok co2 is not really a must but it helps gives a little spark when you start up i think its better if you dont buy a co2 tank when you are starting out first maybe you can read up on diy co2 cheaper alternative
plants i would reccomend java fern, moss is good temperature should be around 26-27 degrees celsius.
when you are starting a planted tank the best way to avoid algae is to pump in plants like surface plants example frogbits i wouldt advise duckweed it multiply rapidly, if you are leaving in the east i can past you some floating plants frogbits will take a picture later
gravel i will add later have to go somewhere will give to give you some more advice when i get back

i cant really remember the cost but i would advice you just use gex soil for the base .i use the gravel as a base with base fertilisers but the gex soil as the top which i feel isnt really good when i restart my tank i might use gex soil for the base.

Bro 900801, yes for the start i may like to try DIY CO2 first...
For the tank like yours, what substrate you're using, i like the black type you use? Where to buy it, what's the cost, and quantity needed? Is it fertiliser & gravel together...
Beside java moss and java fern, is riccia & Glossostigma elatinoides easy to keep?

    Thank you.

You meant just use gex soil, no need another layer of fertiliser or gravel?
Where can i find it, how many kg is needed for 2x1x1?

    Thanks

those two really depend on your tank some time it grows like a pest sometimes it doesnt grow it really depends on the tank

Just want to add that these 2 plants require relatively bright light. So if your tank is running on a single 9W (for example) it will be better to keep to moss and fern.
