It's more fun to be involved in the setup. Part of the joy also comes when you do your research on what does the planted tank involves. The biology, physics, chemistry and artistry behind it. Because in the end, you are going to maintain it.

Try to read some of the website material at the FAQ section http://www.aquaticquotient.com/phpbb...pic.php?t=5624

BTW - where do you stay? Probably a forumer living nearby can drop in to lend a hand.

I agree with Juggler... part of the fun of the hobby is starting from scratch... in fact I dare say thats one of the most satisfying parts of starting an aquarium. its god to understand whats going into the tank and why... unless you are doing this setup for like a business and don't care one iota about the tank itself... in which case you should approach some lfs who will be more than happy to setup the tank and do a maintanence contract with you....

Ooops forgot to say that i have some comments on your equipment...

    1) Riccia is quite high maintenance... you sure you want that?
    2) What sort of lighting you have?
    3) We typically don't use overhead filters for planted tanks
    4) 50L/min = 3000L/hour? did you make a mistake on that? if its 50L/hour, then its a bit slow for a 3ft.

get your co2 cylinder from NA, if you have transport, then get the 5litre steel one, its just heavy to lug around to refill (I know it!!) price around $160 (accessories not included).

Ah Peh in Lorong Halus is the cheapest for co2 setups. Small tank with bubble counter, diffuser and regulator for around $130 depending on his mood. Sorry I don't have his shop name but am sure someone else here does ?

thats very cheap compare to those LFS that I asked these few days!
Some charge me at $350 for complete CO2 setup of 5L tank! So far the cheapest I found is $250 for 5L CO2 setup!
If anyone have the address for ah peh as mentioned above, please let me know!!

    The Game,

If you're willing there will definately people here that can guide you. No need to worry about failing as the people are pretty helpful and the response to your quiries are rather fast.

If you want, there might be a few people that can help you shop and maybe there will be people will help you plant too but it would be most rewarding if you could do it yourself at your own pace. I would not mind helping out if the schedule fits. No charge at all.
If time is a factor, then you can do it slowly in a step by step manner. In fact this would be the most ideal way to setup your aquarium. I assure you that it will be much more fun this way then you juz get somebody to do it for you without knowing head from tail. Get involved, you won't regret it.
    Cheers!!

no probs... thats why AQ exists. One way of getting started on the right foot is to post the list of equipments you intend to buy or already have. That way, people can advise you on your intended setup and help prevent you from buying stuff which might not work well for your tank.
